Registrations open for the 2025 National Foster & Kinship Care Conference – empowering carers to connect, learn and create lasting change for children and young people in their care
Sydney, Australia – Registrations are now open for the 2025 National Foster & Kinship Care Conference, the leading event dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering foster and kinship carers across Australia.
Taking place from 28–30 November 2025 at Club Central Hurstville, Sydney, this year’s conference will centre around the theme “Empowering Carers to Transform Lives.” The event will bring together carers, advocates and sector experts to share knowledge, explore challenges and strengthen support for children and young people in care.
This year’s conference will feature Sarah Naish, an internationally recognised keynote speaker and best-selling author, marking her first-ever appearance in Australia.
A former foster parent who has adopted five children, Sarah is the founder of The National Association of Therapeutic Parents, now with over 10,000 members. She is widely acknowledged as a trailblazer in the field of therapeutic parenting and will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the conference.
“This year’s conference is dedicated to supporting carers with valuable insights and practical strategies that focus on wellbeing, recovery and therapeutic parenting – empowering them to create lasting, positive change,” said Renée Leigh Carter, CEO Adopt Change.
For many carers, connection and shared learning are vital. Lisa*, who has been a foster carer for over 16 years, says conferences like this are transformative, “no one understands caring for children in care the way other foster carers do. These gatherings give us a chance to connect, feel heard and realise we’re not alone in this journey.
“They also provide carers with the specialised training they need and an opportunity to engage in discussions about how the out-of-home care system can change to better support carers, and thus the kids in their care.”
Key topics covered at the conference will include:
- Navigating Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
- Understanding Neurodivergence
- Raising Teens & Preparing for Adulthood
- Culture & Identity
- Safety in the Online World
- Empowering Advocacy
- Carer Wellbeing
- Practical Therapies to Support Children & Young People
“This conference is an incredible opportunity for carers to come together, connect with experts and peers, and gain practical knowledge that can have a lasting impact on the children and young people they support,” Renée added.
Registrations are now open, with early-bird pricing available for a limited time.
