Today, in NSW alone, around 14,720 children and young people live in foster or kinship care.
In July 2018, the NSW Government commissioned Adopt Change to operate Carers for Kids NSW (formerly My Forever Family NSW), recognising the critical need for action.
At Carers for Kids NSW, we understand that carers need support in caring for children and young people in out-of-home care. Our knowledgeable Carer Support team provides a listening ear, practical guidance and resources tailored to each carer’s journey.
Who we support
Whether you’re already a carer or considering becoming one, we’re here for you. We provide training, support and services for:
-
Kinship and relative carers
-
Foster carers
-
Guardians
-
Adoptive parents from out-of-home care (OOHC)
Support is tailored to your type of care – whether part-time, long-term, emergency, short-term or restoration. Our goal is to ensure carers have the skills and knowledge they need, so children and young people can grow up with the safety, stability and connection they deserve.
Carers for Kids NSW’s dedicated Carer Support team provides friendly, personal, expert advice and information via phone or email—and sometimes in person—five days a week, from 9am – 5pm AEDT.
Like them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram too to keep up-to-date with their latest events and activities.
Carer families come in all shapes and sizes. And right now, in NSW, your help is needed more than ever.
So if you’ve ever thought about becoming a carer, please call or email Carers for Kids NSW and a member of their Carer Recruitment team will be able to answer any of your queries or concerns, perhaps bust a few myths, and provide you with advice and guidance on how you can be involved.
Ensuring carers and families have the skills and know-how to provide the best possible care for children and young people—is absolutely critical. This is why Carers for Kids NSW regularly hosts training events across the state, in-person and online.
They also have online training courses—accessible any time—and the invaluable opportunity to connect with other carers for support and guidance.
The Carers for Kids NSW team—are committed to improving the experience for carers, leading to better outcomes for families and the children and young people in their care.
