Read: Foster carers say WA government must ‘get real’ about child protection crisis

The Foster Care Association of Western Australia says the state government must step up and properly resource the department charged with looking after kids in out of home care.  

Fay Alford, the association’s president, with 30 years experience as a foster mother warned the system was in crisis and challenged the premier and treasurer to spend a few weeks working in a stretched district office to fully understand the trauma and needs of the children in care before deciding to spend public funds elsewhere.
